General Information
Location and Surf Conditions
The beautiful Thy region is located in the northwest of Denmark. Vorupør, Klitmøller and Hanstholm are in the center of this region known as Cold Hawaii and have a big number of spots which offer lots of choices in many conditions. In general, you can have good luck with the waves in Denmark all year round. Most people come between April and October for more pleasant temperatures, although the waves are of course a bit bigger and stronger in winter and fall, plus we love the cold. As we can’t control the ocean, we can’t guarantee that we’ll have great waves, but we’ll guarantee to make the most of it!
So what if there are no waves?
We will strengthen the other parts of the program, go skateboarding, rent SUPs or find other ways to improve our surfing skills and ocean knowledge even without waves. In our opinion, surfing is a puzzle made up of many pieces and riding the wave is just one of them!
Equipment and rental options
Equipment is not included in the price. If you don’t have your own board or neoprene, we are happy to advise you and direct you to local surf shops for good rental options.
Pricing
We aim to act sustainably. This means not only that we locate our trips where an airplane is not necessarily needed, but also that all coaches receive a fair fee. We don’t want to support the often (self-)exploitative working conditions in the surf industry, furthermore we support local businesses. But not everyone has the same financial means and surfing is a sport that is not easily accessible to everyone. In order to make it possible for as many people as possible to take part in our program, we have a sliding scale system based on the Green Bottle Method, an instrument for economic justice developed by Alexis J. Cunnigfolk. Those with greater financial privilege contribute more, allowing those with less access, to pay according to their means.

How to Get There
The region of Cold Hawaii is both 450km away from Hamburg or Kobenhavn and can be reached by car in about 5 hours. Klitmøller, where most of our weeks take place, is a small village with a supermarket, cafés and a surf store. Before the surf week starts, we create a chat group so carpooling can be arranged to make the journey easier. You should also be able to split up into cars on site to reach the surf spots that are not within walking distance of our accommodation.
It is also possible to travel by train (or train and bike). The nearest train station is in Thisted. From there we can organize a shuttle for a small fee.
