We embrace cold waters

stormy, grey and wild waves with a couple of seagulls playing in the front, while some surfers sit in the back waiting for waves

misty mornings, grey clouds, pink skies and caramel colored seas.

We play in small waves, choppy waves and dance with friendly swells under northern lights.

We love fine lines and wrinkles, appearing both in our faces and on the horizon.

We celebrate the whole spectrum of boards, bodies, and abilities.

about us

We are not a regular surf school, and we don’t offer luxury retreats.

Instead, we take a unique, personal, and feminist approach to surfing.

Our goal is to create a welcoming, supportive and empowering surf community – one that reflects the open society we strive for. We focus in particular on people for who it is not always easy to find access to surf culture due to gender, age, mental health or mobility restrictions.

At Cold Water Sirens, we connect through laughter (and sometimes tears), throw the patriarchy off the cliff and have a good time playing in the waves!

Meet our core crew of salty sirens!

Lena

Program Manager, Surf Coach and Surf Therapy Facilitator

I strongly believe in the oceans healing and therapeutic powers – especially when it comes in cold waves. The freezing salty sea challenges me sometimes, but it has become the love of my life. That’s why I chose to leave the big city and to turn this long-distance relationship into a closer one.

more about Lena

I love supporting other sirens on their surf and life journey, helping them build confidence in and out of the water.

I am an ISA certified surf coach with a focus on mental training overcoming fears, insecurities or other blockades. I also hold a certificate as trauma-informed surf therapy facilitator from Groundswell Community Project, am mental health first aid provider and constantly work on further training in the field of adaptive surfing.

Let’s ride some waves together and unlock the transformative power of the ocean!

Anna

Systemic Coach, Scientific Monitoring and Water Safety

I am a passionate water woman, cold water longboard surfer, and nature lover. Therefore the ocean is both my place of strength and my greatest teacher.

As a systemic coach, I guide people in discovering their own path to self-awareness, breaking through fears, and living in the moment using creative approaches.

more about Anna

I am deeply fascinated by the therapeutic effects of cold water surfing and use this knowledge to develop new surf therapy concepts.

Just like in surfing, life is not about catching every wave – it’s about flowing with the energy, trusting yourself, and seeing challenges as opportunities. Whether in the water or in a coaching session, I am here to inspire, guide, and support others in navigating change.

Beitske

Surf- and Yoga Coach

I’ve been cruising around this planet for 39 years, mainly along the coasts. When being by the ocean I am filled with so much peace and oxygen. And if she provides any waves to play around in – yay!

A few years ago, I realized I needed this full-time in my life. For this reason, I left my laptop job in the humanitarian field and switched to supporting people in surfing and on the yoga mat, while practicing lots myself.

more about Beitske

I’m trained to teach Prana Vinyasa Yoga (RYS 200hrs Glow Yoga Studio Haarlem) and have immersed myself in Hatha Yoga (Sivananda Ashram, South India). My classes are a creative mix, always suiting the vibe of the moment.

In surfing, my love for longboards has grown a lot – especially after letting go of the belief that the ultimate goal is to surf the shortest board possible!

Josefine

Surf Coach and Cold Water Queen

Water has always been a very important element in my life. I grew up spending time at the beach all year around, taking ice dips, kayaking, and finally discovering surfing. I feel a deep connection to water – being in or near water calms me and lifts my mood.

more about Josefine

I started surfing when I was 19 years old and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, I try to spend as much time close to the waves as possible – whether the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, or the Atlantic: I’m in!

To me, surfing is deeply personal, shaped by both body and mind. As a surf coach, I tailor my approach to your individual needs, ensuring a pressure-free and supportive learning environment. Let yourself be carried by the energy of the Ocean and most of all: Enjoy being in the water!

Academic Support and Cheerleader

Patrizia has always a little bit of seaweed in her hair and a stack of books by her side. Right now, she’s exploring the cold waters of Oregon, USA, but and we can’t wait to welcome her back in to the European cold waves soon!
