11.-16. April 2025 – Cold water surf week
take the plunge!
Boost your mental health with cold water surfing in cold hawaii
Let’s tap the body’s natural pharmacy and experience the magic of cold water surfing! When you ride the waves in Northern Denmark, your body releases dopamine, serotonin and certainly some adrenaline – the perfect cocktail to build resilience, release stress and enhance your mental well-being!
We combine the physical activity of surfing with mental training, systemic coaching methods and a scientific introduction to cold water immersion.
April offers longer days and more sunshine, while the cold water still provides all the benefits of cold exposure therapy. Whether you’re a seasoned cold water enthusiast or curious to try this special experience, we’ll guide and accompany you as you jump into the cold water!
Are you ready to transform into a Cold Water Siren?
General Information
Surf Conditions in Cold Hawaii
The beautiful Thy region is located in northwest
Denmark. The coastal towns Vorupør, Klitmøller and Hanstholm are at the heart of this region, known as Cold Hawaii, and offer a wide range of surf spots for all levels and in (almost) all conditions.
When is the best time to surf in Denmark?
You can surf in Denmark year-round, but most people come between June and October for milder temperatures and longer daylight hours. In fall and winter, the waves tend to be bigger and more powerful – perfect for those who love cold water surfing! In spring April offers longer days and more sunshine, while the water remains still quite cold.
Since we can’t control the ocean, we can’t promise perfect waves, but we guarantee to make the most of whatever conditions we get!

What if there are no waves?
No problem! We’ll focus on other key elements of our program or add new ones, like:
- Ice Dipping – to enjoy all the benefits of cold water immersion
- SUP Sessions – to build strength, stability and ocean security
- Yoga and Breath Work – to enhance flexibility and awareness, while reducing anxieties and insecurities
- Theory and Workshop Sessions – on cold water immersion and psychology of resilience, ocean literacy, de-colonial surf her*story, forecast reading, boards & material, ….
We believe surfing is a puzzle made up of many pieces – riding waves is just one of them!

Accommodation
For your surf week in Denmark, we usually rent the cozy Noah’s Ark for you.
The house is divided into two floors. There are five private double bedrooms on the upper floor and communal rooms on the lower floor. There is a kitchen, dining room, living room, Wi-Fi, TV lounge, large garden, garage and 2 shared bathrooms.
The house is centrally located, 150 meters from the water and the nearest surf spot, 500 meters from the supermarket.
Everything in Klitmøller is within walking distance.
If Noahs’s Ark is not available, we will arrange a similar, comfortable accommodation nearby.

Equipment & Rental options
Surf equipment is not included in the price. If you don’t have your own board or wetsuit, we are happy to help you find the best local rental options in Klitmøller. We’ll guide you to trusted surf shops that offer high-quality gear suited to your needs and the current conditions.

OUR GOAL IS TO ACT SUSTAINABLE, FAIR AND ACCESSIBLE
no flights needed – our trips are reachable without flying (if you are situated somewhere in Northern Europe)
fair wages for coaches and facilitators – we reject the (self-) exploitative working conditions common in the surf industry
supporting local businesses – we avoid big chains and prioritize small, community-driven shops and services
SLIDING SCALE PRICING
Not everyone has the same financial means and surfing is a sport that is not easily accessible to everyone. In order to make it possible for as many people as possible to take part in our program, we use a sliding scale system based on the Green Bottle Method, an instrument for economic justice developed by Alexis J. Cunnigfolk. Those with greater financial privilege contribute more, allowing those with less access, to pay according to their means.
TEAM RIDER SPOT – FULLY FUNDED PARTICIPATION
We are facing an ongoing climate catastrophe and the rise of fascism.
From time to time, we offer fully funded Team Rider Spots
for individuals who are disproportionally affected by:
systemic oppression
wars & forced migration
gender-based violence
activism burnout
If this applies to you or
someone you know, please reach out.
